Engin Dörtler Shipyard was established in 1974 in Haliç under the name Dörtler Shipyard by four foremen, including the current Chairman M. Turan Şahin. Starting with the 1000 DWT tanker “Işıklar-1,” the shipyard went on to build three vessels—“Karadeniz 1,” “Karadeniz 2,” and “Karadeniz 3” (1500/2000 DWT)—while providing repair and maintenance services to Turkish and foreign-flagged ships. Relocating to the Tuzla Shipyards Region in the 1980s, it merged with Engin Denizcilik İşletmesi to become Engin Dörtler Shipyard, completing a dry cargo ship and the small tanker “Castrol İstanbul” by 2002. Embracing technological advancements, the shipyard has grown rapidly, gaining international expertise in constructing dry cargo ships, tugboats, and chemical tankers.
Between 2002 and 2009, it delivered three chemical tankers—M/T Crescent Barolo (M/T OW Aalborg), M/T Aksaz C (M/T Trefin Adam), and M/T Adrasan C (M/T Trefin Unity)—to Danish and Turkish shipowners. Since 2006, Engin Dörtler has held a 50% stake in Kurban Shipyard in Yalova/Altınova, continuing investments on a 20,000 m² site. Upon completion, new slipways will enable the construction of ships up to 117 meters and 22,650 DWT, with an anticipated annual steel processing capacity of 9,000 DWT. Today, leveraging decades of experience, the shipyard serves customers with a skilled team, competitive pricing, and timely delivery, adhering to ISO 9001:2000 quality standards.
